S.A.F.E. A.S. (Skiers Advocating and Fostering Education for Avalanche and Snow Safety) was created in the fall of 2012 by Elyse, Michelle Parker, Jackie Paaso, Ingrid Backstrom, Lel Tone and Sherry McConkey. With the goal of heightening community snow safety and avalanche awareness we created a women's introductory level avalanche safety clinic. With stops in California, Colorado, Washington, and Utah SAFE AS has reached over 1000 women and men ages 14 - 70 and raised over $40,000 for ski community non-profits such as The High Fives Foundation, the Northwest Avalanche Center, the Sierra Avalanche Center, Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Utah Avalanche Center, and AIARE's Project Zero.
